Welcome to Dim Sum Asylum: a San Francisco where it’s a ho-hum kind of case when a cop has to chase down an enchanted two-foot-tall shrine god statue with an impressive Fu Manchu mustache that’s running around Chinatown, trolling sex magic and chaos in its wake.

Senior Inspector Roku MacCormick of the Chinatown Arcane Crimes Division faces a pile of challenges far beyond his human-faerie heritage, snarling dragons guarding C-Town’s multiple gates, and exploding noodle factories. After a case goes sideways, Roku is saddled with Trent Leonard, a new partner he can’t trust, to add to the crime syndicate family he doesn’t want and a spell-casting serial killer he desperately needs to find.

While Roku would rather stay home with Bob the Cat and whiskey himself to sleep, he puts on his badge and gun every day, determined to serve and protect the city he loves. When Chinatown’s dark mystical underworld makes his life hell and the case turns deadly, Trent guards Roku’s back and, if Trent can be believed, his heart… even if from what Roku can see, Trent is as dangerous as the monsters and criminals they’re sworn to bring down.

A Very Interesting Discussion From Mr. Rogers Regarding Parenting.

Talking to parents (and children) about discipline and child rearing. Interesting stuff and still relevant to this day.

Wow… I’ve been busy….

Okay and still a little bit sick.

I don’t know what it is about this illness but it’s not shaking me loose at all.

First off, I want to thank everyone who came out to the Los Angeles Festival of Books. It was awesome seeing all of you and a huge thank you for all of the authors who joined us that weekend.

We ate much. Laughed hard. And well, in Paul Richmond’s case, coloured extensively.

I actually am going to be going through the paperbacks I have this week so I can figure out what I have to giveaway. So that’s like housework with books. I need to clean out a bunch of shelves and really locate things because I’ve got a box of books someplace. I just know it.

Dim Sum Asylum is set to hit the internet in three weeks. One of the leading suggestions for the blog tour is a supernatural creature feature alongside a street food recipe… but not combining the two. So no… merrow dumplings.

What do you all think? Wanna learn how to make kal-bi and carne asada?

Food! Er… Soup. Maybe.

Hello everyone!

I made it into work today for a few hours. Nothing horrifically brain-taxing because well, I stood next to my car wondering what I’d done with my tea as I switched the cup from one hand to the next.

Starbucks has a new frapp out. Midnight Mint and apparently S’mores is back. See? I’ve turned into Teen Vogue. The chocolate one looks interesting. And probably enough sugar to send my heart pounding out of my chest.

Tonight’s dinner might be…. soup. Or rice. Or maybe a lot of rice and a little bit of soup. Nothing too taxing.

What’s on the menu for everyone else?

Apologies…

First off, my apologies for being AWOL. I came back from the LA Times Festival of Books with the most horrific of flus and right now am kind of stumbling through life.

I am really brain dead at the moment. But I wanted to share this with you. This offer is good for ALL DSP sites and goes until April 30th!

From Elizabeth North, owner of Dreamspinner Press

Last Friday, credit card processing was shut off on our site by the underwriters of Dreamspinner Press‘s merchant account because of our content. After 10 years of business with them, we weren’t even notified. To have it reinstated, we had to justify what we sell. Our representative at Bank of America went to bat for us, or we would have had no recourse.

We won our appeal, and I’m celebrating this small victory in a much bigger fight.

Thank you for supporting us for 10 years. Our authors and readers are what make Dreamspinner Press, DSP Publications, Harmony Ink Press what we are, and we will continue to fight and celebrate with you.

A special thank you to Anne Regan, Rhys Ford, Andrew Grey, Bru Baker, Paul Richmond, and Jake Wells who were with me at the LA Times Festival of Books last weekend, hugged me, and let me rant.

Lynn Flewelling, Author of the Nightrunner Series, Needs Our Help.

UPDATE: Lucky has reached his goal! Thank you so very much for your generous donations.

From Lynn: Vet called at 2:30 am to say the Lucky is stabilized and so far not sign of kidney failure. He’ll be with our vet for at least a few days. Thank you all who have donated so quickly and generously. I am so grateful.

Lucky I comfortable staying at the ER for fluids tonight and more at the vet tomorrow. Sorry the updates are sparse. Soon after we left Lucky at the ER I came down with a nasty stomach flu and have been bed ridden myself. I think I have a psychic link with my kitty.

No more donations needed! You all are so wonderful. I thank you and Lucky and my family thank you. This has been a miracle, and saved our boy’s life.

Lucky and Lynn need our help.

Lucky’s GoFundMe can be found here: https://www.gofundme.com/LuckyMedFund

Morning or afternoon (whenever the case may be),

Lynn Flewelling needs our help. For those of you who don’t know who Lynn is, she is one of the key seminal authors in the high/urban fantasy wave whose main characters were LGBT. Seregil and Alec were like a godsend to me because I found Lynn’s depiction of them refreshing and welcome. They’re heros of the realm, who just happen to be in love with one another.

Or rather, began to fall in love with one another.

Lynn, along with a few others like Elizabeth Abbey, Andrew Offutt, Gael Baudino, Mercedes Lackey and Janet Morris, and Chris Morris, paved the way for where we walk now. They literally laid down the stones for us. I fully believe we would not be where we are without the battles she and others fought to bring LGBT characters to life and onto our bookshelves.

She has put writing aside for a bit to chase after a long-held dream, becoming a therapist and helping others work through the problems plaguing their hearts and minds. Still, like many authors, she has a cat… Lucky.

And Lucky needs our help. So if you are able to find a few dollars tucked away, PLEASE consider sending them Lynn’s and Lucky’s way. It would mean the world to them both and well, she truly is an author who opened a whole new world to me.

Also, if you can, spread the word. There are so many of us who have read Lynn’s writing and well, I know we can help them out.

If you’ve not read Lynn’s groundbreaking books, The Nightrunner Series, go grab them and really savor the experience. It’s a fantastic fantasy read. (https://www.amazon.com/Lynn-Flewelling/e/B001H6OHSW/)
