Hellsinger Series

 Fish and Ghosts (Hellsingers #1)

When his Uncle Mortimer died and left him Hoxne Grange, the family’s Gilded Age mansion, Tristan Pryce became the second generation of Pryces to serve as a caretaker for the estate, a way station for spirits on their final steps to the afterlife. Tristan is prepared for challenges, though not necessarily from the ghosts he’s seen since childhood. Determined to establish Tristan’s insanity and gain access to his trust fund, his loving relatives hire Dr. Wolf Kincaid and his paranormal researchers, Hellsinger Investigations, to prove the Grange is not haunted.

Skeptic Wolf Kincaid has made it his life’s work to debunk the supernatural. After years of cons and fakes, he can’t wait to reveal the Grange’s ghostly activity is just badly leveled floorboards and a drafty old house. More than a few surprises await him at the Grange, including its prickly, reclusive owner. Tristan Pryce is much less insane and much more attractive than Wolf wants to admit, and when his team releases a ghostly serial killer on the Grange, Wolf is torn between his skepticism and protecting the man he’s been sent to discredit.

Duck Duck Ghost (Hellsinger #2)

Paranormal investigator Wolf Kincaid knows what his foot tastes like.

Mostly because he stuck it firmly in his mouth when his lover, Tristan Pryce, accidentally drugged him with a batch of psychotropic baklava. Needing to patch things up between them, Wolf drags Tristan to San Luis Obispo, hoping Tristan’s medium ability can help evict a troublesome spirit haunting an old farmhouse.

With Wolf’s sister handling Hoxne Grange’s spectral visitors, Tristan finds himself in the unique position of being able to leave home for the first time in forever, but Wolf’s roughshod treatment is the least of his worries. Tristan’s ad-hoc portal for passing spirits seems to be getting fewer and fewer guests, and despite his concern he’s broken his home, Tristan agrees to help Wolf’s cousin, Sey, kick her poltergeist to the proverbial curb.

San Luis Obispo brings its own bushel of troubles. Tristan’s ghost whispering skill is challenged not only by a terrorizing haunting but also by Wolf’s skeptical older cousin, Cin. Bookended by a pair of aggressive Kincaids, Tristan soon finds himself in a spectral battle that threatens not only his sanity but also his relationship with Wolf, the first man he’s ever loved.

Argh. I’m practically snowed in. My car is no longer visible in the driveway and we’re in for 40 more cm of snow over night. I *need* some comfort reading. It’s not being released until December 30th?! Darn. Would have been nice to curl up by the fire with Fish and Ghosts while snowbound prisoner in my own home. LOL. Can’t wait to read it. Love love your novels and deliciously wonderful characters.

    1. Oh god… that is SO much snow. Dear Lord. *hugs*

Sighs. Oh honey, sooooo many good authors out there to read. heh. But ah, I hope you like Fish and Ghosts. I really do.

  2. Ivy

I just finished reading this and I absolutely loved it. I love books with a great story, romance and intrigue and you gave me that and so much more. I can’t wait for book two.

    1. Yay! Thank you! This book has been worrisome for me. Some people have really disliked it and others have loved it. I wanted something geeky. 😀 And fun! I am so glad you liked it! Thank you.

      1. Ivy

It was a fun read and very different from the norm. That’s why I loved it so much. I also really loved your Sinners series. Great characters again and wonderful stories!!

  3. Denni

Some readers just want a carbon copy of the last book they read by the same author (with new names). If Geeky and fun were your goal…well done! Definitely a different feel/voice to this book, especially in the first half. Almost felt like (dare I say it) a ghost writer lol. By about half way I’d adapted to the differences and was thoroughly enjoying myself, another really fun book!! If this is a series, will be be seeing more of Tristan & Wolf? Or will other Hellsinger family members be the main characters? Thank you Rhys for yet another great story!

    1. I worry about all my books. I worry when people don’t like them and then I get all… You LIKE IT? when people do. No pleasing me. Really. Neurotic mess. TOTALLY NEUROTIC MESS! *grins*

It was a totally different voice for this series. A bit lighter. Rollicking. Or so I hoped 😀 Rock and Roll Ghosts! Heh.

We will be seeing Tristan and Wolf again… as well as some of the others. I definitely would like to have Cin in a book. I have great plans for that boy. *laughs*

I am very happy you had a good time with it. Truly. That is all I want for a reader 😀 Thank you.

  4. Just finished this last night & really liked it. Can we have the elephant in the next book, or the one after that? Tristan was so bummed when the elephant disappeared & I’d love to see him react if it comes back.

  5. Madonna

I’m nearing the end now. Love the story and the characters of Wolf and Tristan, the mom and Mara very much. Fun read. I’m a big fan of the “ghost story”. I admit though that I’m not a fan of Matt and Gidget as I find them annoying (I actually hoped they’d end up as three day guests at Hoxne Grange so they wouldn’t play such a large part in the next installment of the series;-) That’s just me – most readers seem to enjoy them. The dynamic between Wolf and Tristan made up for those niggles with witty dialogue and things that go bump in the night:)

    1. I dunno how much of a role Matt and Gidge will be playing in the future but for this story,, they were a bit necessary. No killing them off. *grins*

Wolf and Tristan are going to be having another adventure soon! They’re next on my writing queue! I am glad you are enjoying it. Thank you!

  6. Tammy

I was finally able to finish this book and just loved it! I can’t wait for the next book in the series and can’t wait for Dirty Deeds too. Please keep writing and don’t listen to anything bad from others.

    1. It’s always a worry launching a new series and this one’s a bit different than the others…. a bit more out there. I am so glad you liked it! Thank you!

  7. lea

OMG! I loved this book…This is the first of your books that I have read I just couldn’t put it down..will there be any more coming out soon?

  8. Tracy Franklin

Loved it! I laughed out loud (which I love to be able to do in a book and to have those moments in a book where I cringed so many times a some of the graphics was surprising.) and had no problem with the difference in the writing style compared with the Sinnners Gin books (haven’t read your other series as I am not a fan of first person stories. Which sucks because I love all off your books that aren’t.). I often get tired of authors because their books start to all sound alike so it was a huge plus for me. I also got a kick out of the Sinners Gin reference at the end of the book. Not enough to throw off somebody who hasn’t read them but perfect for those of us who have. Hate having to wait for the next one. Hope you bring back Wolf’s mom. She was a hoot.

    1. Ah, the Dirty series is a lot of fun. I have a good time with Cole’s voice. *nods*

Ah, Wolf and Tristan are so much fun. really. Just great to write. I’m going to be doing the next one soon. *grins* Thank you!

  9. Cathy

Great book. I fell in love with your writing with the Sinners Gin series and thought it was cool you added a Sinner’s Gin song in this one. I am really looking forward to Cin’s story. I hope you write it soon. Also hoping maybe he can help find out why Heather Cook is still hanging around. You haven’t disappointed me yet. Thank you. Keep up the great writing. Now onto the Dirty series.

    1. You’ll be seeing Cin in the future. Wolf and Tristan will be back this year i the next book. Ah, Heather. She’s a repeater for some reason. She’s got a story/ *winks*

  10. David

I just have to say I loved this book!! I love romance, I love hot guys and I love the supernatural, and to have all of them in one HOT story, almost made me pass out…lol!!! PLEASE tell me there will another??

    1. Hello! And thank you!

I am writing the second book in the series right now. Wolf and Tristan are back in Duck Duck Ghost and it should be out later this year. *grins*

      Thank you!

  11. Lori

I just found you with Fish and Ghosts, it so much I bought your other books. Loved all of them and cant wait for more. You are very talented.

I have not finished reading Fish and Ghosts and it is already a part of my fave favorites ever. Please write more about the rest of the Kincaid men! Cin needs a sexy beau so I can read about them

    1. The second book in the Hellsinger series, Duck Duck Ghost, has already been written as is in with DSP right now. You’ll meet Cin there 😀

  14. Sandy

Finally got to it:) Which is a much bigger accomplishment than it sounds when there are 200+ physical books and 50+ eBooks sitting here to be read. And y’all keep writing more………Absolutely loved it! You had me at the Hitchhiker reference;) Now on to Black Dog Blues and I’m totally caught up (your books only, unfortunately) for a week or two

Found you through a recommendation from Amy Lane and started with the Sinner’s Gin series thanks to a Kermit Flail Monday for the third one (but I started at the beginning). Loved them! Picked this one next, and enjoyed the hell out of it. Also got all geek-happy with the Hitchhiker’s and Labyrinth references. then you made me exceedingly happy with the Wolfriders reference, as I’ve never run into anyone who knows about them. You are now on my shortlist of favorite m/my authors. Next up; Clockwork, then Cole. Or maybe vice versa…

    1. Awwww thank you! If you are ANYWHERE near Los Angeles in November, Wendy Pini is going to be at Bent-Con again. We’re going there too… a bunch of us authors… but she was there last year and had the most delightful Cutter cosplayers. She’s a delight *grins*

Heh…. I am glad you like the books!

  17. I started reading your books based on a recommendation from Mercy Celeste and fell in love with Miki in Sinner’s Gin. I’m not sure how many times I have re-read each of the books in that series and when Amazon delayed the release of Tequila Mockingbird I went to the publisher’s site to get it instead, a few hours was just too long to wait. I had bought the first book in the Cole McGinnis series but I didn’t quite connect with the characters. After TM reminded me how enamoured I am of your writing style, humor, and character development I decided to try again, this time with something closer to my norm (fantasy/supernatural). I am so glad I did! The only drawback was that the second book isn’t out yet. Btw, adding in the Sinner’s Gin song towards the ending was inspired. The lyrics and conversations/recording that begin each chapter are wonderful additions to the story and not something I ever skim over.

    1. Aw thank you. And yes, some series don’t chime with everyone. *hugs* It’s so okay. I try to skip over a lot of genres. And ah, Duck Duck Ghost is out in September!

  18. f miller

Hey!!! Will this series be on audible too? I have all of the Sinners Gin and Dirty books and narrations.

  19. So I’m totally hooked on your Cole & Sinners series’, and finally (FINALLY) had not only the money to try out the Hellsinger stuff, but the drive to do so (my feels can only take so much, Rhys, really). And I’m now 25% into Duck Duck Ghost and I’m really really hoping there will be more in this series (because I just know that I’m not gonna wanna say goodbye after this, nope nope nope, love Wolf and Tristan too much).

Totally agree with the other comment about the Wolfriders ref—may have had to smoosh a pillow over my face because I was so excited I was screaming. Bestie got me into ElfQuest in high school, been hooked since, and I’m always excited to see when others know about it as well!

TL;DR: I love these big nerds and your other nerds and basically I just don’t know what I’m gonna do when any of their adventures are over (unless you have new nerds, in which case I will love them too).

    1. Hi hi!

Ah yes, I will always have big nerds. It just has to be there. ‘Cause I am one. So yeah, there you go 😀

I’m hoping to write more of Hellsinger. It’s an odd series to pitch sometimes because well… ghosts and nerds but damn it, I adore writing them. *grins* Tristan and Wolf are so much fun to write.

I seed a lot of pop culture easter eggs into the books. Because you know… it’s like our secret handshake *winks*

So glad you’re enjoying them and thank you!

  20. I just got around to read Duck Duck Ghost (FINALLY!!!) and thought this one is way waaay creepier than Fish and Ghosts. *not a ghost stories fan much here :p*
Though I love Wolf and Tris, may I request a dedicated story for Cin, please. He captivated me ever since Wolf mentioned him. 😉

  21. lea

Omg! Just read Duck Duck Ghost it was AWESOME! Please tell me will be getting to read the next book in the series soon because I got to tell you I’m hooked this series is a breath of fresh air never read anything like it can’t wait for the next installment!

  22. Rachelle

Finally got to read Duck Duck Ghost, loved it. I just love ghost stories it is unique and I can’t wait for the next installment ugh like now! 🙂 oh what is a Harker? should I know this already or will I be finding this out? My memory can be shit sometimes grr. Can’t wait for well any of your books to come out!

    1. Ah, Harker was a character in Bram Stoker’s Dracula..where the Van Helsing family connection with the Kincaids began. Harker started off as Dracula’s soliciter 😀

      And thank you!xoxoxo

  23. Rochelle

I loved, Loved, LOVED this book. and I do have to tell you that Tristan James did an Awesome job at narrating it. He did such a good job with the “charity” voice that I had to sleep with the lights on for a couple of days. It was eerie and creepy and good all at the same time.

  24. tal

Loved this series when I read it last fall. Any idea when in 2015 the next book might be released? Spring, Summer, Fall?

  25. Robert

Helsinger, Harker and Frankenspeak! Blood, gore, and ghosts! You are fantastic. Just finished both books. Loved the ending with Harker thrown in. Can’t wait for the next one. Great series so far. Girl, you are awesome.

    1. Aw thank you so much. I’m glad you liked them! Wolf and Tristan are great to write for. Love them. *hugs* And oh yes, there will be more out there for the boys.

  26. I love this series and eagerly await the next installment. Wolf and Tristan have such a fantastic workable chemistry. Thank you for the awesome adventure with these two so far.

  27. T.C.

Wait wait! Just finished reading Fish and Ghost. So the big dog is a ghost?!! No Way! Great reading. Got totally into this book😀. Your writing was so good I am now behind in my knitting and crocheting. Couldn’t put my Kindle down.

    1. Heh. Well the little one is a ghost… but Boris… ah, isn’t he a sweetie? Hah! Go crochet! Go go go! But thank you. So so much. xoxoxoxox smoooooches.

  28. T.C.

Got the second book. I want to read it very much badly but I knit and crochet for veterans and our deployed military so I am making a compromise. Knit a scarf, read a chapter, crochet a beanie, read another chapter. Sounds good right? 😁

    1. I Knit, crochet and spin too! The answer is audiobooks!! The best of both worlds 😄 I have a few books in both formats.

  29. CJ

I just listened to both of the Hellsinger stories for the second time. Please tell me there will be a third soon, and for the love of God, tell me Tristan James will be narrating it.

    1. Christopher

Bless you Rhys Ford!!! I’ve been praying for another installment of Tristan and Wolf. I love everything about the characters and the cliffhanger you left us on was EPIC!

  30. Love all of your series! Waiting , very impatiently, for the next Sinners Gin book😼 just finished DuckDuck Ghost. Omg! How could you leave me hanging like that😱. Can’t wait to see what happens next! Btw love the ebooks and the audiobooks. Tristan is fabulous 👍🏾

  31. Wesley

I love ur books both of the hellsingers series are on my kindle I’ve read them both multiple times can’t wait till the next one comes out I specially love Tristan be a medium of sorts myself I can so relate to him and skeptics like wolf have been in and out of my life for years I can honestly say u get the panormal aspects right in ur books love lots waiting in Kansas for ur next hellsinger book

  32. Margaret Lethbridge-Cejku

More please! I love the Cole McGinnis series, but I need more from Wolf and Tristan! Please don’t leave them behind.

      1. Margaret Lethbridge-Cejku

Awesome! Thank you! I’ll be looking forward to it. (and hope you are feeling better soon! )

  33. Huggy

    Hi.
I was just wondering if the next hellsinger book was still in the works? I’m starting to feign.

  34. This is me anticipating & waiting patiently for Tristan and Wolfy…
*insert 4 minutes of Snoopy happy dance here:*____________________!!!

  35. Mariah

I absolutely love the Hellsinger series! It’s one of my favorites to read over and over. I can’t wait for another installment…I have to say though, I would love to see a threesome come out of it. Am I the only one who got that vibe between Wolf, Tristan and Cin? Seems like such a good opportunity…lol. I can’t wait for more, no matter what it brings!

  36. Amy Feeler

Just finished Hellsinger 1 & 2. I have to say I enjoyed both books tremendously. So a big thank for the books and definitely will be pre ordering the third in the series as soon as it’s available. 😊

  37. Amy Feeler

Also I would like to add a special shout to narrator Triston James. I have audible narration on both these books and he did a terrific job. Looking forward to his continued narration in the future books of this series.

    1. Tristan is so awesome! He is. *grins* And thank you. So so much. I adore writing for the boys. And yes, they’ll be in book 3 *grins* I will be getting something in the store for the Hellsingers. Promise!

      1. I’m so glad to hear a Book 3 will be coming. I really enjoy these books. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I could handle Wolf’s name, but then I ended up just basically yelling “WOLF KINCAID” in a deep voice, because that sounded appropriate to me.

Also, I’m already pre-shipping Sin and Will. Because… their ship name would be Willsin. Like the volleyball on Cast Away. I swear, these books just make we want to yell out strange things.

  38. Mina

I love your work and I thank you for sharing your world with your readers but really another year without the book 3 of Hellsinger please, please, please I said please? 😦

      1. Oh, I’m so happy to hear it. Love these two guys. As an inveterate book juggler, I’m toggling back and forth between Hellsinger #2 and Kai Gracen (the one and only), really digging both. My compliments on NOT being a cookie cutter author! Characters are what hook me in the quickest; in Tristan, Wolf, and Kai, you’ve got three super interesting and compelling guys!

  39. Also, please let Tris and Wolf know that merely one month after meeting the spousal unit for the first time, we were shopping for houses together, and we were married 8 months later. It’ll be 20 years this December. That whirlwind romance thing, it can work.

  40. Lissa Given

Late to the party, but I just read Helsinger 1 & 2 this week, and am desperate to find out who Will is, what he wants, and how long before he and Cin end up in bed (all that angst and anger i can see coming just has to end that way!!).

Wolf and Tristan really work as a couple, and their adventures are just scary enough to be believable … I just knew that porcelain doll I was given as a child was evil!!!!

    1. Awwww heh. Oh Cin. Poor Cin. He’s so grumpy right now.

Wolf and Tristan are great to write. I have the next book on my queue so soon! xoxoxox

  41. Just finished Hellsinger 1 & 2… and was left hanging!!! Please tell me it won’t be long for book 3!!! Love the books. Thanks for the great reads!

  42. Amanda

I just finished listening to both books again. How much longer for #3? You’ve been saying soon for 2 years. 😩 lol The cliff hanger in 2 is killin’ me!!!!

  43. Debbie

Just found your books. LOVE THEM ALL SO FAR! I started with Murder and Mayhem, then Half Moon Bay, then Sinner’s Gin and then Cole and Jae. I don’t normally read first person books but I loved all of the others so I thought I’d give them a go and I’m glad I did. They were wonderful.😀

I wish you could write as fast as I can read because, like everyone else, I can’t wait to read Sin’s story….. 😊

  44. Jennifer Price

Love this series – well crafted characters and great locations!

As a Price myself, though sadly without the Pryce family money, I would gladly have Tristan in my family – he wouldn’t even be the strangest one in it 😏

  45. Tracy

Book 2 of the Hellsinger Series is unavailable on Amazon, any idea why and when it will be available?

  46. Robert

Hello Rhys, just finished Duck,Duck,Ghost for the second time. Any news on book 3? It really has been sometime? Happy Holidays

      1. Steve

Listened to these on the train, too. Tristan, like Greg (Ink&Shadows), has an amazing narration voice. Can’t wait for the next installment–the Kincaid clan would make for a hilarious reality show!

  47. Niyx

I grab these books on Audible last week. They are absolutely amazing. I have had more fun listening to these over and over and over again throughout this week. I’m taking a break to get back to Kai but I fully anticipate listening to these for a long time.

  48. Lucero

I just finished the second book and the ending has left me screaming!! I love this series so so much. Will you be writing a third??

  49. Debbie

I’m so glad that the book is in the queue. Loved the first two and have been looking forward to the next one for soooo long!

  50. Chris Gorman

Hey Rhys- Thank you for Trystan and Wolf, and I eagerly await the next as I love them and their story. I am new on your site but I read the books awhile ago. I think you are a very talented writer and I enjoy the stories immensely. I will now start reading more of your work, but still want more of Trystan and Wolf! Thanks for the fun journey!

  51. Just finished re-reading Hellsingers 1 & 2 really, really would like #3. Just started my reading journey with your books – Dim Sum Asylum and the Hellsinger series – will now start reading and adding your other series. Loved the crossover with Miki and Kane in Mary Calmes’ Marshall’s series. Thank you for your stories.

  52. Oh my gosh, just finished book 2! I love the Dracula references in the names, and this series is so awesome! Please tell me book 3 is coming soon. I’ve seen the goodreads page, but there’s no indication of when it’s coming out, and I am desperate!

    1. KitLet

I love this little series (it’s actually my favorite of yours) and reread them frequently. The characters are awesome and I love the supernatural aspects. It’s been so long though I fret a 3rd book is never coming.

      1. Hello and much love. Sadly, I’ve been very sick over the past couple of years and have had a few deaths in the family so writing has been few and far between. I have one more surgery to go (hopefully this will fix things) and life can go back to normal… and you can find out what Tristan’s up to.

  53. Cherie Noel

    Rhys,
I’ve been rereading some of your series. I’d forgotten how brilliantly written the Hellsinger books are! You are a treasure. Thank you for everything you write.
I’d love to get more in this series, yet understand that your health comes first, as it should.
May this year bring you relief from your health woes, a successful surgery, and a speedy, complete recovery.
    Be well soon,
    Cherie Noel
