Excerpt from Down and Dirty
Breathing a sigh of relief, Jae collapsed into the Jeep’s cushioned seat and grinned mischievously over at Ichiro. “See? Told you we wouldn’t get caught.”
“You’re going to get me killed one day, Kim Jae-Min.” Ichiro’s breath was still coming hard and fast, and he wondered if his heart would ever slow down its skipping beat. “Fuck, my knee hurts like a son of a bitch. I can’t believe you jumped on me.”
“I wouldn’t have had to do that if you’d been watching the front.”
“We wouldn’t have gotten out of there if I hadn’t been there to catch you. How were you going to get from the balcony to the floor? They were through the door like rabbits.”
“True,” Jae agreed, his eyes bright with energy. “But it was fun. Does your knee really hurt?”
“Badly,” he murmured, bending it slightly to test its flexibility, then wincing as the joint protested loudly. “Yeah, okay it hurts a little bit. I probably just strained it.”
“Come to the house, then. We can put ice on it and get something for inflammation. My car’s safe at your place. I can get it later.” Jae settled back, extracting his camera from under his arm. “Besides, Cole wanted you to have dinner with us.”
“And Bobby,” Ichi grumbled. “Maybe I should have let the cops catch me.”
“Bobby isn’t bad.” Jae shrugged off Ichi’s muttering dissent. “When I needed him to check on Cole, he was there. During—when things were going bad between us. He’s a good friend to Cole. As long as you don’t go to bed with him, everything is good.”
“That bad in the sack?” Ichi teased. “And how would you know?”
“Don’t know. Don’t care,” Jae sniped back. “He’s bad for the heart. He goes through tons of … men… over the past few months. The longest I’ve seen him with someone was three weeks, and that’s because I think he was actually twins—one good and one naughty. He’s a good friend just bad for the heart, I think. Not for you.”
“Not like I’m planning to go to bed with him, Jae.” He eased the Jeep into another lane. “Yeah, nice to look at but—you don’t need to warn me off. Look, don’t touch.”
“Just don’t ever let it go beyond that or things will get very messy. I don’t need to know who Cole would choose, you or Bobby, and if things go as they always do with Bobby, Cole’s going to end up having to make that choice.”

Bobby is definitely a love-them-and-leave-them type, a philosophy Ichi whole-heartedly agrees with. Family was as much of a relationship as Ichi was looking for, but something about the gruff and handsome Bobby Dawson makes Ichi want more.
The Four… Series Name
I have decided to go with 
Ink and Shadows.
Rachael, you win a beta-read of The Four, Book One in the Ink and Shadows series AND to be a character in Sloe Ride, Book Four of the Sinners Series.
This theme came up a couple of times but she was the first one to lay it down.

It actually was a difficult decision that involved a lot of people as we discussed the choices. Close seconds were; Riders of the Storm, Harbingers, Revelations, and Veils and Ink. Veiled Threat was also in the running as were several others.
The winnowing process was huge. And took a lot longer than I thought it would be but really, THANK YOU ALL! *hugs* I cannot ever truly thank you all enough. You make my life!

Find Me A Series Name!
Find Me A Series Name — CONTEST IS CLOSED! I am now debating the merits of the names! HWAITING!
Okay… I’ve been putting this off because my brain’s just been really lean. Like hella lean…
I have to come up with a name for a series. Usually it’s pretty easy. Something hits. This time… not so much. I don’t want to do something corny like The Four Horsemen. But it has to be a bit catchy.
Oh, and this is dark urban fantasy… from DSP Publications.
The focus in this book is Kismet, the human and his interactions with The Four. Primarily. Yes.
The winner will be determined by the name that tickles my fancy. I won’t make a decision until 9:30 tomorrow. I kinda have to make a decision because I’m being looked at askance by the powers that be.
What will you win? Besides my eternal gratitude, you can certainly beta The Four BUT you can also be a character in the next book in my queue, Sloe Ride.

Restless Spirits by Jordan L. Hawk
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I have never hidden my love for Jordan L. Hawk’s writing. To do so would be like trying to keep the sun concealed under an umbrella. Not only would it be a neat trick, the umbrella would go up in flames. Just as it would trying to hide the sheer magnificence of Hawk’s writing.
Restless Spirits launches Hawk’s new series, Spirits and damn, what a great launch it is. Vincent and Henry are at odds, both philosophically, Henry is a scientist where Vincent is a spiritualist, and socially as Vincent is a Native American man during a time when being darker than a flushed beige relegated a person to the “lesser” column. However, Henry isn’t one to let social constructs guide his behaviour, not where race is concerned.
Homosexuality, during the heyday of an alternative universe’s Industrial Revolution , is a different matter altogether.
The story is a tightly knit, nearly single-room adventure reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. Caught in a paranormal mystery complete with murderous ghosts and stolen bits of forbidden love, Hawk crafts a damned good tale of scientific theory, spiritualism and simmering sexuality. This is definitely an origin story of a couple of men who first are at odds and then only find their footing when working together.
I’m looking so forward to seeing where we’re taken in the rest of this series. Fantastic writing, great characters and burgeoning tension as only Jordan L. Hawk can deliver.

So You Wanna Try An Audiobook…Giveaway!

I’m going to be honest. Actually I’m usually honest with all of you… okay except at the end of Sinner’s Gin but truthfully, I never TOLD you he was dead. I was just being SUPER honest at the end of the book.
And that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
I digress. Tangent. Etc.
Thing is, I was never actually interested in Audiobooks. I’d JUST forgiven myself for liking my Kindle and that took me YEARS to get over not having paper and ink in my hands. YEARS! Issues. Bygones.
But ah, Audiobooks. I was given a bunch of auditions for the first Cole book and I had to listen to the tone and modulation of storytellers. I wasn’t listening for the story. I KNEW the story. I was listening for the… essence of the words I’d written, of the people I created and man, let me tell you about judging. I was SO judgey. Like a judging judgey thing.
Because dudes, love him or hate him… Cole’s mine.
And so I found Greg Tremblay among the recorded pixels and said; yeah… that’s the guy. THAT is the voice.
The matter dissolved and I was lost in other things… mostly other books and other issues but then one day I got an email asking me about Korean pronunciation. I thought huh, asked a friend of mine who’s very fluent to record it for him and God, I love Bianca because she in true BiNicorn fashion went on for about ten minutes on the hows and whys of the phrase and then said it several times slowly.

She’s going to kill me for sharing that but hah! I love her. She is so fluent. Dudes, she lived there for a long time. Sings in Korean. Writes it. Hah. She even gets mad when the hot boy takes the tongs away from her at Korean BBQ. His name, ironically enough, is Jae.
Greg dove in. Dove RIGHT into the Korean and for that, I am so fucking grateful.
Then Dirty Kiss came out and I was all…. well, shit, I need to listen to this because he did so much work and well, obligations and all of that.
I couldn’t have asked for a better narrator. Truly, Greg blew Dirty Kiss out of the water. Totally. And I was all, damn skippy. Thank you.
Tristan came next and well, I’d found my boys. Dedicated, focused and dialects! Accents!
They become a different layer on top of the experience for the reader and well, for some, they ARE the experience. I know some people who only do audio and love it.
So that’s why audiobooks.
Now, I get these codes when one of my audiobooks drops. I apparently also store them up like acorns so… how about if I throw some of them out there and we see if they take root.
