Rebel: 415 Ink, Book One
The hardest thing a rebel can do isn’t standing up for something — it’s standing up for himself.

Life takes delight in stabbing Gus Scott in the back when he least expects it. After years of running from his past, present and the dismal future every social worker predicted for him, Karma delivers the one thing Gus could never—would never—turn his back on; a son from a one-night stand he’d had after a devastating break-up three years ago.

Returning to San Francisco and to 415 Ink, his family’s tattoo shop, gave him the perfect shelter to battle his personal demons and get himself together… until the firefighter who’d broken him walked back into Gus’s life.

For Rey Montenegro, tattoo artist Gus Scott was an elusive brass ring, a glittering prize he hadn’t the strength or flexibility to hold onto. Severing his relationship with the mercurial tattoo artist hurt but Gus hadn’t wanted the kind of domestic life Rey craved, leaving Rey with an aching chasm in his soul.

When Gus’s life and world starts to unravel, Rey helps him pick up the pieces, and Gus wonders if that forever Rey wants is more than just a dream.

In Kentucky…and Headed to Indiana in a Few

Well it’s a bit nippy in Kentucky right now and I have an aux-cat named Dewey demanding I pay him tribute just as I begin to type out this blog. I’d take a picture but he’s sauntered back off.

A lot’s happened in the past few weeks, and yet nothing. I’ve been to GRL and moved about a lot and am trying to get Sin and Tonic finished. My workload expanded a bit and as I shuffle words around, I realize this is going to be a huge fricking book.

Mary Calmes has a cafepress store now so if she’s your cup of tea*, stop on by and have a look: http://www.cafepress.com/marycalmes

* She’s my cup of tea but then I adore her. 😀

And the cat is back.

My brain’s stuck in San Francisco and the Morgans at the moment so blogging something out is kind of hard but I wanted to touch base with all of you and see what’s going on.

TA Moore got her 415 Ink shirt and promptly sent me a picture from Belfast. She’s got a Christmas thing coming up and once I get that blog schedule and links from her, I’ll share it. She’s working with CS Poe on a round-robin tour so I’ll grab Poe’s release links as well. So much stuff going on.

I’m hoping 415 Ink: Rebel will be available for pre-order soon and everyone is getting ready for Thanksgiving if you’re on this side of the rock. We had a trial run yesterday and I am still over-full. That’s probably why the cat’s here. He wants something to nom on. All I have is coffee.

GRL Winners! I’ve Sent Emails!

Well I had dinner with our lovely model on the left last night, we had Korean BBQ, she attempted to eat a Cloud Cheesecake…did her best but it defeated her, I got a bit sick (milk is not my friend. my body rejects even ice cream), came home and pulled the winners of the GRL 415 Ink T-Shirt Giveaway.

I was supposed to draw three.

I drew TEN names.

There were a lot of entries and I am very grateful for everyone who came by and entered.

So… I have sent pertinent emails and tagged a few people whose emails I could not read.

Thank you guys. Seriously. I am so very grateful for your support and… thank you for bringing me into your lives.

xoxo

ATTENTION ANYONE IN THE INDIANAPOLIS AREA (Or thereabouts). We’ll be gathering on Sat, November 18th at 4 pm. If you’re interested in joining us, please email me at rhysford(at)vitaenoir(dot)com so I can give you the location! I will be seeing our other models (My darling didi, Lisa and the pupper PepperDoodle) in a week or so. I’ll give PepperDoodle your love.

Dear Everyone…

Dear Everyone,

If you intend to wear a costume remotely based on anything of the following cultures I am a part of (see the following bullet points):

• Hawaiian,
• Irish,
• Japanese and/or,
• Portuguese

…I will give you a permission slip to do so.

My caveat? I ask that you celebrate my cultures, learn its customs, pick up some of its language, get one of its tattoos, listen to our music* and for God’s sake, eat its foods.**

Have fun, don’t be an asshole about it and if there’s something about it that speaks to you, embrace and explore it.

Yes, your kid can dress as Moana***. She’s a fierce representation of a strong female. Hell, dress as Maui if you want…although in the Hawaiian myths, he’s a bit of a Loki but… you know, to each their own. Wear a kimono (we actually are very happy to see them on people no matter the colour of their skin or the language on their tongue) and should you decide to go as a Leprechaun, you might want to consider something more challenging like a banshee or a merrow. Perhaps even a black dog. Nothing says cultural enrichment like an ainmhi dubh.

Just remember, *embrace the culture, don’t mock it.*

Seriously, I have a permission slip. I’ll be handing them out in exchange for fun-sized whiskey bottles or chocolate.

* More Hawaiian slack key guitar and Celtic rather than koto for me but Hyde and Gackt! (who both are rockers, which rose up out of the blues from the melange of cultures and peoples brought over as slaves intermingling with other cultural influences but you know, rock.)

** I will gladly exchange the right to eat sushi, teriyaki and kalua pig so I can have carne asada fries, tacos and pizza.

*** Or Lilo. Or Stitch. Hell, Stitch in a grass skirt singing Elvis. Knock yourself out.  *grins*
