Tonight’s Dinner: Miso Ramen
I once had a friend ask me how to make ramen. Japanese style. Huh. Ramen is kind of like Japanese casserole. Whatever you’ve got in the fridge, goes into ramen. Tamago (egg omelette) is traditional but really whatever fits. I like making a miso base for the soup. This is today’s offering.

For those who have inquired, Tam’s doing well. He’s even sharing a window seat with his sister.

Chapter Wrestling
Finally had an idea on a chapter. If you’ve not noticed, I’ve been dumping stuff here because I needed… um… inspiration. So yeah, here’s some inspiration. I’m going back to writing.
Because I’m stuck in a Chapter…
You all have to deal with my wanderings through the internet. I think I’ve figured it out though.
JL Merrow’s Pressure Head

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is possibly one of the best books I’ve read this year…and I consume books. Merrow’s balance of mystery, strained relationship and sexual tension is masterful. Tom is a fantastic main character and Phil serves as the perfect foil. Gary as the best friend served as a bit of levity to balance things out but my favourite secondary character was Tom’s friend, Police Inspector Dave. Where most writers tend to over burden the main character’s life with a glut of gay characters, Merrow provides a reasonable balance in providing a diverse, multi-oriented social life for Tom. Phil’s struggle with his attraction isn’t a gay-for-you but rather a reasonable caution as he angles through psychological obstacles.
Seriously, a fantastic read and a book I’d recommend highly. Can’t say enough praise for this book. Well done!

I like the ones with pineapple or coconut. Lotus paste is nice. I’m not too fond of the egg ones but I’ll choke those down if I’m forced to by one of my aunts.
Since I can’t give you a real mooncake, I’ll give you a virtual one instead.

Dirty Secret and Amazon
Apparently Amazon has run out of all of their paperback stock of Dirty Secret but will be ordering more. However, it is on sale at Dreamspinner as well.
I’m not sure what to think about it being out of stock on Amazon. Yay? Did they have only two books and my friend Tiff grabbed them? Did the lawn gnomes rise up and take over the warehouse and spirited off any purple covered books?
In other news, I made roast pork for dinner.
