G-Dragon “Crayon”
Most of you probably are beginning to wonder what’s in my CD case. Or in my media player. Well, actually a pretty wide range of music but when I write the Dirty series, it’s Korean. Okay sometimes VAST and BMRC but mostly… Korean.
And by now, you all know of my love for G-Dragon…and his group, Big Bang.
Well, GD’s got another mini-album out. I’ve already shared two of the videos. Here is the third. I love this boy. He’s insane.

Kwon Soon Keun became a worldwide YouTube sensation when someone posted ‘Korean Drummer Steals The Show’ on YouTube several years ago. Here is again, kicking ass and not stopping long enough to take names.

Kwon Soon Keun became a worldwide YouTube sensation when someone posted ‘Korean Drummer Steals The Show’ on YouTube several years ago.
I was so fascinated by his drumming and went on to make a documentary film called ‘A DRUMMER’S PASSION’.
The film was well received by public and it was selected for screenings at 2011 Vancouver Asian Film Festival and 2011 Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival. Mr. Kwon and I were on CP24 and Rogers TV Daytime for interviews and the popularity of the film was so high that we got so much attention despite it is only a short film.
Now, we are planning to make a feature film on Mr. Kwon and he seems happy to get his spotlight back at 71. (He is turning 72 in 2012.)

Now I’ve been waiting for this album and I’m going to share the video. GD’s always been an odd duck. He excels at odd. And usually is sardonic when he’s referencing himself. This video is definitely all him.
That aside, I like the song. I’m not much on “rap” but it works. His best friend Taeyang (also a member of Big Bang with GD) is slid into the video so it’s a fun piece if you know what you’re looking at. The bright yellow hair? I think it’s a shout out to being a Dragon.

KPop and Girl Groups
I’m not much of a fan of female singers. I have a select few I enjoy, usually women with pretty powerful, bluesy voices. But, someone did as about KPOP girl groups… So I’ll include a few. I DO like 2NE1, which is a female group but for the most part, the genre is too… pop-pop for me. Odd, because it’s pretty much K-POP. Not K-Sorta-Something Else.
But, here are a few of the popular girl groups. These have been suggested by some of my friends who have faves among the groups. And Man this took forever 😀
