Whew….

Let’s go arty with some black and white.

Cover is done. Not anything of mine. Someone else’s.

Steampunk is off to Dreamspinner Press. I have Elizabeth North to thank for steering me into that. God, world building in 12K. Brain. Leaking. Betas have it to read but it’s gone baby gone.

I am sadly only now eating dinner. Leftover pasta from last night. Carbonara of some sort I tossed together.

I might even go to bed before midnight. Wish me luck on that. *grins*

Tomorrow… back to Cole and Jae. *cackles* *cues AC/DC*

Love from Sid Love and News…

I have to give a huge shout out to Sid Love and everyone for voting Sinner’s Gin the book of the month at Sid Love’s Blog.

Honestly, I am touched that you all love Miki and Kane and really, Sid’s got a great place going over there. Please stop by and vote for the next month’s book. I had a hard time choosing. TOO many damned good choices.

Also wanna say a huge thank you to Heather at Sid’s for the lovely first kudos for Black Dog Blues. To everyone who picked up the book, God…thank you. Really. Kai’s a special project of mine. I just wanted him to stand out there and say… fuck it, I’m here. And you all have embraced him in that. So thank you. *grins*

I just turned in the final(ish) edits for Whiskey and Wry. God I am running Grace at Dreamspinner ragged. I owe her like a bottle of tequila and some chocolate. She’s made of grit, I tell you… grit!

Fish and Ghosts has left my desktop and has entered the hopeful queue at Dreamspinner Press. Please wish Tristan and Wolf their best as they make their journey.

I have one chapter left on the steampunk short… *coffs twelve thousand limit coffs* and then on to Dirty Deeds.

On the cat front, Tam is doing well with his diabetes and comes out to me for his shots in the morning. He is more skeptical of my sister when she has the needle but I think that’s just because he’s an asshole.

What? The cat’s an asshole. He taunts.

I also have a huge head cold and it’s kicking my ass. I spent a goodly portion of my brain power this evening pontificating about why a particular shrimp dumpling should be called har gow and not something else. And then I realized, no one but me cares. But damn it, it’s what I call them. *sniffs* My half-ass Cantonese bastard language stealing.

What are you all up to? I’m heading to bed. Long ass day. Long ass week and I’ve got a few more to go there. See you on the flip side of the waffle.

Black Dog Blues is Live! Available Now!

Black Dog Blues CoverI have released the Hounds.

After a few long years of Kai simmering on my hard drive, I’ve finally been able to release him and the black dogs he hunts. There are so many people who have had a hand in this book’s release, I can’t even imagine listing them. I made a poor attempt at thanking them in the acknowledgements.

Kai is a bit different from my other series. It’ll be an occasional book but definitely a series I plan on continuing. It’s pretty much urban fantasy with a bit of a protag twist. Hope you all enjoy the book.

In other news, don’t forget Whiskey and Wry will be out in a couple of months so… if you wanna see what happens to the guy at the end of Sinner’s Gin, stay tuned.

Black Dog Blues Blurb
Ever since he’d been part of the pot in a high-stakes poker game, elfin outcast Kai Gracen figured he’d used up any good karma he had when Dempsey, a human Stalker, won the hand and took him in. Following the violent merge of Earth and Underhill, the human and elfin races were left with a messy, monster-ridden world and Stalkers were often the only cavalry willing to ride to someone’s rescue when something shadowy and dark moved into the neighbourhood.

There certainly were no shortage of monsters or people stupidly willing to become lunch for one.

It was a hard life but one Kai liked. And he was good at it. Killing monsters was easy. Especially since he was one himself.

After an accident retired Dempsey out, Kai set up permanent shop in San Diego, contracting out to the local SoCalGov depot. It was a decent life, filled with bounty, a few friends and most importantly, no other elfin around to remind him he wasn’t really human.

That was until a sidhe lord named Ryder arrives in San Diego and Kai is conscripted to do a job for Ryder’s fledgling Dawn Court. It was supposed to a simple run; head up the coast during dragon-mating season to retrieve a pregnant human woman seeking sanctuary with the new Court then back to San Diego. Easy, quick and best of all, profitable. But Ryder’s “simple” run leads to massive trouble and Kai ends up being caught in the middle of a deadly bloodline feud he has no hope of escaping.

No one ever got rich by being a Stalker. But then hardly any of them got old either. The way things were looking, it didn’t look like Kai was going to be the exception.
