So I have this book coming out and I’m looking at doing some promo. What’s the best way to promo? Give away shit.
Not an Aston Martin although wouldn’t that be nice? How about an ARC of Dirty Laundry?
If you’ve preordered, perhaps Rough ARC of Whiskey and Wry? Of course you’ll have to sign away your first born or fave cat and promise not to share 😀
The book itself will be released on April 19th at Dreamspinner. Purchase link is over there next to this entry but first…. a chance at a freebie!
What do you have to do to win? Leave a comment on the original blog entry at rhysford.com. Simple enough.
Comment below. I’ll be picking someone [ONE] on a random number generator.
Smooches and good luck. Hope you all like the book.
Here. Some other Dirty Laundry. Probably not safe for work but fun in a violence and gore kind of way.
Jordan L. Hawk and her Demons. Sorta.
Hunter of Demons by Jordan L. Hawk
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I’ve been meaning to get in here and write a review for this book and with the release of the second one, time to really get off my brain and just do.
I enjoy Jordan’s writing. Hands down, she’s got a tight, descriptive style that pulls a reader in and places them in the middle of the story. She writes storylines where the characters are complex but approachable and she has a good sense of balance with regards to their personalities. They are living on the pages. Excellent pacing and fantastic tension.
What I loved about this book was the “possession” element. Gray is as much a character as the main couple and he does have a significant impact in the book. It’s a great developed third wheel in what should have been a book about a supernatural hunter/agent and the paranormal-ish man he’s run across.
So the second book just dropped and I went to get it before I came here. If that doesn’t tell you my priorities, I don’t know what does.
I can count on Jordan to tell me a good story. Actually I can count on her to tell me a damned fantastic story. Hunter of Demons is just the beginning of what looks to be a great series. Don’t lose out on reading it. Really, get this and I’ll go prod her about getting the sequel to Widdershins while you’re busy. Jordan L Hawk is addictive. Trust me on that one.

Mary Calmes, Romantic Times and USA Today
There is going to be a M/M presence this year at the Romantic Times convention. There usually is but this time, it’s going to be a PRESENCE. Mary Calmes, Amy Lane and a few other M/M authors will be in attendance to represent the genre and I can’t think of better ambassadors.
Certainly not me since I seem to be spelling challenged this morning.
The “Fantastic” Mary Calmes was spotlighted in an interview on USA Today where she graciously mentioned me in the esteemed company of TJ Klune, Anne Tenino, Ariel Tachna and Jordan L. Hawk… really fantastic writers in their own right. And a few other people’s right. And a couple of lefts too.
It’ll be interesting to see where the genre goes over the next couple of years. It is certainly evolving. *grins* And woooot! 😀
Where do we go? *cues Guns and Roses*
Well kiddies. It’s been a long week. Lots of stress…mostly real world stuff that really should just resolve itself but it’s not. So over it looming over me. Wish me an immense amount of luck please. I need this bout to end. *nods*
That being out of the way, let’s talk writing.
Fish and Ghosts has reached the halfway mark. I’m rather liking it. Hoping to have it done in a couple of weeks actually which then brings us to…
DIRTY LAUNDRY
To say I’m apprehensive is really kind of undermining the glass butterflies shattering themselves against my brain and stomach. When writing, you kinda pretty much do it in a void. Because of timing, I don’t have any real numbers on how my books have been doing over this past quarter. I’ll know more in a couple of weeks. I mean my backlist went from 1 book in 3Q12 to pretty much close to 5 in 1Q13 (if DSP accepts W&W by the end of the month). Sinner’s Gin was really only on the 4Q12 books for two weeks.
So how do you tell if your backlist is doing well while you’re waiting for numbers? You pretty much don’t. But! It definitely is the time to interact with people who want to discuss things like books or writing.
So… what would you all like to talk about? What seems to be the style of writing you find yourself gravatating to these days? Mind candy? Hard core thrillers? Love stories with parakeets? Share.
Or even better… what are you LONGING to write?
And now since I haven’t posted anything odd in a bit… Here’s a Gay Brazilian Twerking Crew. Okay maybe not odd but you know… different.
Research….
Don’t even ask how this got started. First it was towels. Then labrys. So… anyway… I post things on Facebook and I try to get them here too but sometimes, here gets stuff FB doesn’t… or it has to wait until that gets populated out.
So yeah, here’s some research. Back to writing.
