An interesting mix especially the origins, “old school plantation style bento.”
A lot of the comfort foods for me comes from my Grandpa’s era…. a lot of cane field workers ate portable foods… like spam and vienna sausage because they were out working in the fields. I was too lazy to make rice. These lunches didn’t spoil since… no coolers or anything. We eat this way a lot when I want something from home. Loco Moco or bentos rock.
