Lunch: Jook, Juk or Congee

There are a lot of names for this dish. Most common are juk, jook, or congee. Rice porridge although I do also make it with rice noodles. The clear noodles.

It has been a week now since I’ve been sick. I’ve now moved onto the chicken sacrifice and jumping over cracks part of the illness… where any superstition or home remedy will be tried. Today is hot sweet lemonade and homemade jook.

This is roasted chicken, turkey burger, broth, green onion, and overcooked rice. Salt, pepper and shoyu for seasoning. Aish shoyu = soy sauce.

  1. Hope it helps! I figured out sometime last week that I have not been well through the holidays since 2005! What in the heck does that say? Nothing good, I’m sure. So far so good this year – but I’m afraid I’m going to jinx myself. Feel better soon 😀
