Rebel by Rhys Ford (DSP Purchase Link)
The hardest thing a rebel can do isn’t standing up for something—it’s standing up for himself.

Life takes delight in stabbing Gus Scott in the back when he least expects it. After Gus spends years running from his past, present, and the dismal future every social worker predicted for him, karma delivers the one thing Gus could never—would never—turn his back on: a son from a one-night stand he’d had after a devastating breakup a few years ago.

Returning to San Francisco and to 415 Ink, his family’s tattoo shop, gave him the perfect shelter to battle his personal demons and get himself together… until the firefighter who’d broken him walked back into Gus’s life.

For Rey Montenegro, tattoo artist Gus Scott was an elusive brass ring, a glittering prize he hadn’t the strength or flexibility to hold on to. Severing his relationship with the mercurial tattoo artist hurt, but Gus hadn’t wanted the kind of domestic life Rey craved, leaving Rey with an aching chasm in his soul.

When Gus’s life and world starts to unravel, Rey helps him pick up the pieces, and Gus wonders if that forever Rey wants is more than just a dream.

No, I don’t have the words…

We… our community, our world, her family… lost a vital, vibrant author, Sandrine Gasq Dion.

I knew her in passing; a couple of shared laughs and a few heartfelt discussions about the tightness of things. Very brief moments but quite vivid. Small bits of words and intersecting moments in person. Online we crossed over a few places and we also shared a narrator, an oddly intimate kind of bond… like having a close familial connection with someone you’re not related to.

She was brash, spangly, and unapologetic…all of the things I admire in a woman. I adored every moment I shared with her because of her vitality and brightness. We liked the same kind of men and cats, something I will always chuckle over. She brought the genre to its knees more than a few times and well, steamed up quite a few windows.

Sandrine, you will be sorely missed. The universe is a bit darker for your star having left us but we are thankful for the stories and memories you created while we were fortunate enough to have you with us.

Eastward Ho!

Well, tonight is our last night in Vegas and then we’re heading to the Grand Canyon for one night. Weather here in Vegas is actually pretty good and the Venetian is a lovely place to stay. Thankfully they still fire up the waterfall across the street at the Mirage so it’s all… FIRE FIRE!

I am easily amused.

Heading to Denver is a lot of fun. I’ve got a couple of the San Diego Crewe with me: Steve, Maite and Jacob… as well as author CS Poe.

So far, no one’s killed anyone… that I know of… so! Life is good.
