And for the Back in Black Cover Reveal!

Coming Feb 4 from Dreamspinner Press, I am happy to share the cover for Cole McGinnis’ first mystery in the McGinnis Investigation series! Thank you for welcoming Cole and Jae back into your lives and I hope to keep you entertained with their antics for many years to come!

Back in Black [Book One in the McGinnis Investigations Series]
by Rhys Ford

There are eight million stories in the City of Angels but only one man can stumble upon the body of a former client while being chased by a pair of Dobermans and a deranged psycho dressed as a sheep.

That man is Cole McGinnis.

Since his last life-threatening case years ago, McGinnis has married the love of his life, Jae-Min Kim, consulted for the LAPD, and investigated cases as a private detective for hire. Yet nothing could have prepared him for the shocking discovery of a dead, grandmotherly woman at his feet and the cascade of murders that follows, even if he should have been used to it by now.

Now he’s back in the dark world of murder and intrigue where every bullet appears to have his name on it and every answer he digs up seems to only create more questions. Hired by the dead woman’s husband, McGinnis has to figure out who is behind the crime spree. As if the twisted case of a murdered grandmother isn’t complicated enough, Death is knocking on his door, and each time it opens, Death is wearing a new face, leaving McGinnis to wonder who he can actually trust.

  2. This news makes me SO happy!! Cole McGinnis is one of my all time favorites. Can’t wait to read all his new adventures. Thanks Rhys!! ❤ ❤

I love Cole and Jae-Min and other sympathetic characters, but I would get upset when various of Cole’s family and friends would get shot in the “Dirty” books. I’ll be happy to see them back, but worrying about which one would get shot, stabbed, spindled or mutilated next. I worried about Scarlet, even though she had bodyguards, partly because it’s too common in fiction for transgendered women to be killed off. (And too common in real life, too!)

But I’m curious if Cole will get a chance to see any of his half-sisters again, when they get old enough to travel by themselves. And I liked the interactions between Cole and his brothers.

    1. Sadly, it is a mystery series so people do get shot at. With any luck, everyone will survive 😀

The series starts several years after the last book so… we’ll see what happens!

I was so happy to see this! Being an old person (70) I like your more traditional books. Tried the others, but have trouble with the make believe worlds. Don’t get me wrong, I think the quality of the books is up to par with the traditional. Now that you’ve promised this new McGinnis book, I have great hopes that a new Hellsinger and possibly a new Murder & Mayhem might be in the works???
