Open Call for Readers

FishandGhosts_Ford_FinalTossing some questions out here before I head out to LA.

I need to start the Fish and Ghosts promo thing. I’ll be doing the “please let me squat on your blog” begging when I get settled in a day or so but there’s always the giveaways.

Now I try to give away interesting things… and well as books… but tell me, what kind of things do you all WANT to see in a giveaway? What would be cool to win?

  1. Some of my faves are autographed paperbacks, maybe a bit part in a book (even if you kill us), a free ebook. Maybe just something that we couldn’t buy ourselves?

  2. *nods* I’ll look out for your…email. i’ll be glad to let you “squat” on my blog. πŸ™‚

free ebooks is always good. Signed copies of paper version is good too. Too bad there is not a way to “sign” ebooks. Although, I’ve seen someone with a Nook Color get multiple backs and have authors sign that. Then you would have to invest in multiple ereader backs. That might not work so well. Ooooo, how about a signed bookmark-sized sticker? Make it like a 2″x3,” or similar size, so people can park it on the back of their iPad, Kindle, or Nook.

I saw a cool thought of an audio of the MC that could be given away as a prize. I thought that would be cool too. Or even an audiobook.

Gift cards to various online ebook retailers always go over well: Amazon, B&N, ARe, BookStrand, etc., depending on where you have things published.

A CD of your entire published works in the various formats. That would be cool too. Especially those of us that like to get everything an author publishes. πŸ™‚

    1. Those are good ideas. πŸ˜€ Ah, I’m up for blog squatting. I have to figure out what I’m going to do.

      God… my brain! *hugs*

      1. Whenever you would like. Just started this blog hop/tour/host thing so it’s not like I have a lot people knocking on my door. πŸ™‚ if December is good for you, that sounds good to me. Pick a date and we’ll go from there.

Definitely a signed book, it just feels really special and something I know I would treasure and I’m sure others would too.

  4. Gift Vouchers from Ebook companies and Amazon are always bonuses. As well as free ebooks from authors etc (approaching other authors and create an electronic book hamper)

I find that if you have a voucher for something like this with the rule being to ‘share’ it either on facebook or blogs – well anyone would be interested. So people who dont know you (I find this concept shocking) might get drawn to your website and blog for the chance at winning an amazon or dreamspinners voucher.

As you dont want it to get astrologically expensive for the author I think smaller amounts are fine.

    Something like –

To celebrate the release of my new book Fish and Ghost I would love to spread the joy….win a $5 Dreamspinners gift voucher …..5 to be won blah blah blah.

Am I making any sense at all…………im so tired lol

    1. I do like giving away gift certificates… usually to the website of the person’s choice. That way I can usually hit anyone international too!

  5. How about 2-giveaways:
1-local winner will win a lunch with you and the 2-winner will win either a “Cole McGinnis” or a “Sinners” goodie bag! πŸ˜€

  6. I like the signed books (obviously, as I track you down to get them all signed). Are you going to be doing any mugs or shirts or anything for this one? That’s always good (I say drinking from my lovely Whisky & Wry tour coffee mug) πŸ˜›
