Kisses and Hope

This is an Illicit Photobooth Kiss From 1953. More can be found at found at ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives Gallery.

Where ever these men are…whomever they eventually loved…I hope they lived a life full of joy and wonder. It is what everyone deserves. And in this moment when they stole a kiss behind a curtain of a photobooth, they were able to have a whisper of happiness. May they have had many more.

  1. Oh, the risk they took for that one stolen moment! It’s a lovely picture, and really a testament to how far we’ve come and how far we have yet to go.

  2. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it? Whether they went on to marry women and have families because it’s what was expected of them, if they went on seeing each other–or other men–outside of their marriages, or if they ended up somehow being together as a couple?

Hm, you should write a book about them.

  3. Amazing. You always find the coolest stuff. I agree with Lisa. You need to write a book about them 🙂 Or at least a story giving them a happy ending.

You are so smushy. Thanks for the tender glimpse into another time…..’time, time, time, see what’s become of us’. (Simon and Garfunkel, thanks)
